It’s a pioneering community initiative that until recently enabled the treatment of around 15 patients a day, three days a week from a state-of-the-art mobile chemotherapy facility located at the Tesco Sealand Road site in Chester.
The service has now been extended and operates five days a week, serving communities in Chester and Southport from Tesco sites, providing both convenience and free parking facilities for patients.
The medical trailer houses six chemotherapy stations with preparation, reception and waiting areas. EMS Healthcare provides daily logistics support to ensure that the vehicle is maintained and located as required.
Mobile facilities not only help healthcare providers ease waiting times, but they also enable treatment to be delivered closer to people’s home. The benefits are wide-ranging from providing greater convenience and comfort to patients as well as enabling efficiencies in the provision of treatment.
